Collection: X-Rated Sounds from Dark Entries

Excerpt from our latest issue of Presser:

"It used to be that people would argue that the real reason they were buying nudie mags like Playboy or Penthouse was to read the articles. In much the same way these days, word on the street is that people are watching hardcore gay pornographic films not for their incredible soundtracks. What brought on this change, you ask? I reckon it was three reissues from the ever-reliable Dark Entries label outta the Bay Area!

Throw out all your preconceived notions of sleazy funky bass lines matched with wah-drenched guitars. This is a wellspring of overlooked gems; a world of music that stands on its own without the images to match and sizes up to some of the best. Often a means by which underground gay musicians were able to earn a bit of extra cash, these releases often tapped into the music they were making in more public spaces, yet would occasionally go overlooked or uncredited.

Head honcho of DE Josh Cheon joked in a recent article in The Guardian that he could become a gay porno soundtrack reissue label if he wanted to. While I’m no soundtrack afficionado, that doesn’t sound like a bad idea considering the consistency and quality of these releases!"
