Debut release from this new band coming out of Perth. Wild Tone have a really unique sound. It’s synth based punk/pop, there seems to be a nod in the direction of the late 70s and early 80s era of UK and US punk rock (like GUN CLUB or the ART ATTACKS), but they give it their own spin and opt out of guitar in lieu of synth rhythms. It’s melancholic and it’s poppy but not quite like the new wave of the early 80s. Parts of it head towards 80s era WIRE and some of the more synth pop driven punk like HIKASHU. It’s catchy as hell though, portrays some classic humour that only people from Perth will appreciate, and makes a perfect soundtrack for sun-turnt Saturday nights in Northbridge.
