Kissteria, a portmanteau referring to the US rock band KISS and hysteria, has taken over my household via my 6 (and three quarters) year old. I’ve leaned into it, or taken the copeium as the kids might say, and this is one of the spots I’ve ended up... Wendy O. Williams’ of the infamous Plasmatics Gene Simmons produced debut solo album.
Initially I investigated because it contains what should’ve been KIss’s biggest hit since ‘Sure Know Something’, but instead it was saved for the W.O.W. LP. Wendy absolutely crushes the Simmons penned ‘It’s My Life’ and I’d say it’s even better than Bon Jovi and Talk Talk/No Doubt’s songs with the same title.
While it’s hard for the rest of the album to compete with this incredible moment of self empowering rock, there’s a bunch of other highlights (see ‘Opus In Cm7’) and as a whole it’s a great record. - Nic
