A collaboration between Yolngu songmen Bobby Bunnungurr, Jimmy Djamunba, and Peter Milaynga with Melbourne based electronic musician Peter Mumme, Waak Waak Djungi’s only album was released in 1997 before being reissued by Efficient Space a couple of years back.
Sung in Djinang and Gannalbingu over syncopated electronic rhythms and sweeping synths, these tracks unfurl in panoramic sonic vistas. Essential listening!
