I remember buying this Voigt/465 comp when it first floated through the shop back in 2017(?) in the midst of a frenzy of archival Australian post-punk/private press reissues that were coming out at the time.

I got it home, gave it a few listens, and admittedly filed it into the ‘too hard’ pile. Something about proficient musicians playing angular and arty post-punk didn’t immediately click with me (perhaps I was suffering from a particularly strong case of Dolewave fever at the time?).

But returning to it sometime in the past week has reaped its rewards! Before it’s time in melding punk approach with kraut drive, sharp-edged disjointedness, and arty experimentation. An approach that aligns itself with groups like Pere Ubu, This Heat, or Faust or as a forebear to groups like Essendon Airport and Tsk Tsk Tsk, or more recently Constant Mongrel, Diat, and even Exek.
