English band The Telescopes were one of the great bands of the original wave of shoegaze in the late '80s/early '90s. Inspired by Suicide, Velvet Underground, Stooges, Roky, et al, they signed to Creation and created an awesome din in a similar vein to Loop, Spacemen 3, MBV, etc. Third Wave was originally released in limited form in 2002 and now sees a beautiful and limited reissue (300 copies on 'ashen-infused transparent' vinyl) on the Sydney label, Weisskalt. It's a wondrous mix of warm drones, downtempo electronics, avant-jazz and fuzzed space-rockrock.
