I’ve found myself continually gravitating back to the latest LP from Montreal’s The Submissives over the last couple of weeks.
Understated and rickety rock’n’roll with droning violin, spindly lead guitar, and these haunting vocals that are recorded in such a way that they sound somewhere in the realm of a mumble all the while being strangely catchy.
I still can’t put my finger exactly on what this album reminds me of but it seems to sit within the nexus of the 3rd Velvet Underground LP and The Raincoats debut but fronted by a French-Canadian chanteuse singer.
