If there’s an album title that criminally understates the quality of the music contained on it, it’s this one!
The Stevens’ 2nd LP, Good, is an all-timer for me (as is their equally as “good” first album!). GBV-esque lyricism and power pop melody within the structure of 2min prog songs, but with enough hook lines that I catch myself wanting to sing along. An “underground” band and an album that was able to toy with the rock band format yet still make something immediate, arresting, and accessible.
Sidenote…. Still daydream about The Stevens and expanded Ruined Fortune lineup double bill a few years ago, a bill for the ages!
