The Rivers bio...

Who would have thought that 2 kids playing in a park could bring together such a wonderful motley crew of humans. The Rivers were born from a chance meeting of Stu Wilson (drums/guitar/ backing vocals) and Sienna Egan (lead vocal) when their two kids decided to make friends in Marrickville park. After talking musical shop and laying down
some vocals (for another project of Stu’s) the idea to form a band took shape.
Stu pulled in some friends - Andy Newman (Bass), Marko Simec (Keys/ Percussion/Backing vocals) and with the addition of Rupert (lead guitar) The
Rivers started to flow! Its hard to pigeonhole The Rivers sound. Their music is elemental of blues, Rock, Jazz, Country and Soul. With so much combined musical history the
band have created their own unique sound. A sound that they hope the world
will enjoy!

For the first time on CD, “Blue” Gene Tyranny’s first album from 1977 (originally one of the first Lovely Music releases) is here – beautifully remastered, with new artwork and 24-page booklet.

Blue is a Grammy-nominated composer and pianist who has performed on records by Robert Ashley (Perfect Lives), John Cage, and Laurie Anderson, yet this is quite different. Composing for what is essentially a chamber rock ensemble, a cast of female vocalists, and himself on the Polymoog and RMI synthesizers, Blue has created a song-cycle that reflects his intensely melodic and free piano

technique in a polished studio record. Out of the Blue elegantly combines adventurous New Music technique, the style and appeal of pop music, and the grace of classical music to form an unclassifiable and totally revelatory whole. Endearing, exciting, familiar yet unlike anything else – this is a very friendly record.
