The Reds, Pinks & Purples - The Town That Cursed Your Name LP
San Fran’s ever-prolific Glenn Donaldson (Horrid Red, Teenage Panzerkorps, Painted Shrines, etc. etc.) returns with another LP of reverb soaked kitchen-table jangle under the moniker of The Reds, Pinks, and Purples.
Songs that chart the battles of trying to be active in DIY communities in cities that are designed grind you to a pulp—odes to record labels lost to media mail issues, working minimum wage jobs to play at night, or finally packing in the band and calling it quits—all rendered through sounds that recall the shimmering guitars and tape haze of the C86 movement or The Church with the pop hooks of The Cure pr The Smiths without the over-wrought melodrama of those groups.
There’s no shortage of RP&P releases, but I reckon this is my favourite to date!
