A 'power-trio' from New York City, Psychic Paramount were formed from the ashes of the oft underappreciated Laddio Bolocko. They manage very successfully to fuse post/math rock ideas with a classic rock/psych outlook and this oddly titled monster of an album showcases their styles perfectly. If you can imagine Acid Mothers Temple and Comets on Fire jamming with Godspeed You! Black Emperor and their Constellation of collaborators then you might have an idea of what they sound like, but remember it's only three people, so the sound is truncated somewhat. These comparisons probably don't make sense, but this is a slashy, lo-fi rock beast with extended passages of epic ambience which attempt to drag you down into the dirt and debris before pummelling you with noise-rock once more. One for those of you who enjoy rock the way it should sound, made by a band who aren't afraid to play with the form! - No Quarter
