The Velvet Underground were one of those groups who transcended the label of just a “band” and spawned an entire genre in and of itself. The Modern Lovers feel like proof of this; carrying forward the NYC cool affect, observational rambling lyricism, and rock’n’roll chug of the VU, and if that’s the case, I guess the VU is my favourite genre!
Not to mention that killer opening count in, one of the top five openings to any rock record I reckon!
