Supermalprodelica et Blason - Mer Changeante 2CD
I believe I’m going to spread some misinformation if I attempt to unpack this fantastic double compact disc. A synth-only (no vocals, no beats) re-imagining of a 2000s Scritti Politti album by Supermalprodelica, then re-interpreted by Blason on disc 2? I may be uncertain of the context, but I’m sure as heck about the sound… unbelievably pleasant stuff!
Supermalprodelica’s CD is dense with layered monosynth melodies like 15 miniature rainbows in curved air (Terry Riley), that piques a broad section of people browsing in the shop’s curiosity. Blason’s CD is surprisingly darker in mood, and less shop friendly, but a worthy companion! — Nic
P.S. I really enjoyed and related to the reflections Doug Mosurock had on this release via his Heathen Disco Music Reviews newsletter and generally think it’s a nice “in” to many contemporary undergrounds… check it out!
