Brierfield Flood Press are thrilled to announce the long-overdue reissue of Sun Araw's Prayer Tapes. Originally released as two separate volumes in 2012, the Prayer Tapes feature 4 sides of solo improvisations, recorded live with no overdubs. Deeply exploratory & long out-of-print, these compelling sonic meditations are once again available in the physical realm, a full 10 years later.
Well-known for his collaborative work with Laaraji & the Congos, Cameron Stallones has been making music under his Sun Araw / Sun Ark moniker since the early 2000s. Stallones himself has described the intention behind Sun Araw as ‘the creation of psychedelic music, by which is meant a psychotropic music: not an aesthetic sensibility but a method of discontinuous experience’. The Prayer Tapes is a striking manifestation of this creative process, while also constituting an essential chapter in the increasingly formidable Sun Araw discography.
‘Prayer Tapes: Vol 1 & 2 ‘ is available in a limited edition of 100 double cassettes. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear these legendary improvisations on tape, as they were originally intended!
