The band’s second 1969 album, Contacts, is a replica of their debut, with more unsettling and voluntarily dissonant hypnotic harmonies and manic singing: similarly so, also the lyrics deal about sadder, depressive subjects (“But we don't have time for the little things / No, we don't have time for the little things, because / Life is full of important things / Life is full of necessary things / Life is full of big machines”). “Confusion”, instead, is based over banjo picking and an apocalyptic coda. They subsequently disbanded because of a lawsuit against Pan Am Airlines about the album artwork, reformed and disbanded two more times: Simeon Coxe died finally in 2020 at age 82. -Simone Appolloni
