Laibach – Boji / Sila / Brat Moj 12"

I’m highlighting this one mostly because Laibach records have been particularly illusive in the shop the last 10 years or so. This, the first vinyl release from the long running Slovenian / Yugoslav avant-garde group, fits firmly in the early tide of industrial music’s spread across the globe. Raw but not Broken Flag or early SPK raw. 

I get the feeling that not soon after this release is when Laibach’s unique konceptual footing really takes grip, something I hope I’m reminded to try and grapple with again in my lifetime. I’ve had brief interactions with this project in the most random spaces: a communications/media class at uni, a Rammstein obsessed housemate broadening their horizon and a design retrospective at a national art gallery in Spain. When will this band next cross my gaze? A Laibach Labubu? — Nic
