It feels like appropriate times for Rudimentary Peni to be back in the dialogue, as their catalogue is a rip roaring soundtrack to testing times of discomfort. A "death-rock" group with no chill, no stylised gothic theatrics, 100% anguish and claustrophobia.
That being said, the sole song on this record represents an unfamiliar sludgy mode of RP, but the unique creative voice and intensity remains.
Let's hope this is the beginning of a greater retrospective campaign (hopefully handled by Sealed Records) as we could use more Rudimentary Peni records in the world.
A band that's so potent and effective I believe they'd resonate with folks outside the world of Corpus Christi/Crass records obsessives and general extreme punk music fandom. Killer artwork by Nick Blinko of course. - Nic
