The Godfather of Chicago Footwork is back with another banger-filled double disc set! So far, each listen has filled me with immense joy as there's something so incredibly positive about RP Boo.
I was under the impression 'Established!' was about taking things back to RP's House roots, which I don't think is entirely correct, but more so it draws links between Chicago music traditions. How Disco morphed into House, and how RP Boo specifically morphed Ghetto House/Juke into Footwork.
While Footwork is a music informed by and catering to Chicago's Dance music culture, it's also found an audience in swagless "experimental" music subculture nerds (myself included). 'Established!' feels like a more universal in-road for those not immersed in the depths of club music or subscribers to The Wire magazine. If I had it my way RP Boo would be played during the NBA playoffs and the next Minions movie! - Nic
