Rites Of Spring - End On End LP

Nevermind the vast swaths of mostly unfulfilling post-hardcore that came in its wake, let’s celebrate 40 years since the release of the sole album by Rites Of Spring. What a doozy, such an intense amount of youthful exertion is captured in this mostly live-in-studio effort. Nothing neat, conservative or constipated about it! 

Bassists Mike Fellows would go on to play in Silver Jews and Royal Trux. I’m pointing this out as a counternative that’s much more appealing to my taste than the legacy of “emocore”. Up there with The Teen Idles - Minor Disturbance 7” and The Faith - Subject To Change 12” for my favourite Dischord Records releases. - Nic
