Piggietails - Piggietails LP

The first recorded release from Naarm jumble pop four piece Piggietails comes in the form of a self-titled 10 track album, which is equally lowkey and casual, as it is charming and absorbing, as we enter their world of still life songs chronicling everyday life.

Built on friendship and an initial relaxed approach to songwriting towards the end of 2023, the band have slowly but surely slotted their way into the local Melbourne music scene, playing with the likes of Cool Sounds and Mess Esque.

Taking notes from 80s Australiana guitar pop, the indie rock stylings of Yo La Tengo and a splash of the revivalist jangle of the naughties, the band pull the best bits from every era creating lyrically engaging simplistic songs that still manage to pull you into their personal world, humorously described by the band as “everyday music”.

Piggietails on their debut release weave together a collection of 10 tracks that feel like vignettes detailing the joys of everyday life, which feels like a breath of fresh air amongst an era of maximalist music styles, and I personally can’t wait to hear what they do next.
