In 2000, Phil Bennett released Walking Through Cobwebs under the Pillbox moniker. A collection of related stories, Cobwebs explored the themes of choices, love, obsession, life and death.
23 years later, Phil has reunited the group (himself, along with lifelong friends William Halhed on bass and Kevin Rooney on drums and percussion), bringing in kindred spirit, Neil Fernandes, to add his guitar shimmers to the sonic palette, as well as a dazzling array of guest vocalists.
His most accomplished and complete work to date, the new album, Bring Back The Mammoth, takes the listener on a long strange trip where we are introduced to loved ones, lost ones, found ones, ghosts new and yet to be created; where we observe creatures extinct calling us to where they have been banished as humankind stumbles blindly into its own oblivion; where distance is separate from the space in between; where lovers fly like kites and climb through windows; where the mundane can be made to sparkle like sunlight.
