People Skills - I Will Not Die CS

Via the Swedish connection, Philadelphia PA's Jesse Dewlow reached digital tendrils down under in anticipation of an Australian and New Zealand tour and came into contact with Altered States.

Troth were fortunate enough to join Jesse and S. Glass for their Melbourne date Sunday just gone and their tour currently continues, venturing through locales both known and decidedly unknown (to me at least). We wish them the best of luck.

'I Will Not Die' is another eerie missive in a canon already haunted with ample amorphous 'geists. Dewlow has established a potent figure in over a decade of releases as People Skills on labels such as Siltbreeze, Blackest Ever Black, Kashual Plastik, I Dischi Del Barone and, most recently, Digital Regress. Quite the CV.

The hauntological sense is strong in these works, but in no way lacking character for their subtlety. There are clearly defined anatomies of songs buried midst the fug.

Seeing People Skills in a live context really gave me another layer of appreciation for what Dewlow does. He need not rely on tricks of overdubbing and recording to tape-machine to achieve his supernatural murk, but is able to conjure his confounding spells right before the eyes. A true master of an otherworldly craft.
