My first taste of French/German duo Nina Harker whose third self titled album approaches song-meets-sound collage as if a contemporary update of Brigitte Fontaine and Aresk’s avant-garde chanson. Or think euro-proggers like Illitch, Franco Battiato, Pascal Comelade for the post-Hype Williams and Kye Records universe.
Not to dismiss the diverse and freaky-deaky flavours on this disc, and the associated Kou LP, but it almost feels a little too appealing for someone like me whose 18 years off the record store nerd deep end. Do Nina Harker have access to my thoughts or at least my internet history going back to the Volcanic Tongue mailing list days? - Nic
