Reissue of 1972 album
Neil Gardner’s Said the Blackbird might be the most obscure artefact of the singer-songwriter era. 50 copies were pressed in 1972 by Tasmanian label Spectangle in mustard coloured sleeves repurposed from unprinted surplus inners for George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass.
Performed by Neil (with a band) and all tracks composed by Gardner, the songs will take you on their own particular trip.
This first-ever reissue by Half a Cow includes a facsimile of the original lyric booklet, which advises that the album was “recorded using Gnome Power.”
