Glad to have one of my all time favourites Lower Plenty return with the sweetest folky clatter imaginable!
The blueprint of the band doesn’t change radically on their fourth LP and why should it? If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Kitchen sink casual playing, with loose melodic and intertwining guitar playing, wavering harmonies and traded vocals, waves of percussion, and songs that range from yearning ballads to calls to burn the flag.
But this isn’t some stuffy traditionalist folk, but sounds as though Peter, Paul, and Mary grew up on hardcore and noise rock. For the uninitiated, one I’d put alongside V.I.P.P. or the acoustic Mount Eerie/Microphones records.
