Leven Canyon - Loveletters (Abridged) CS


Leven Canyon is the alias under which Tasmania’s Kieran Holm has been quietly carving out a body of digital releases over the last few years. Many thanks to Daniel Platts’ recommendation, LC’s ‘Love Letters In The Sky’ release from January 2023 found it’s way to my inbox. I immediately got in touch with Kieran and asked if he may be open to seeing a re-arranged version appear in IRL tape format and he willingly obliged.



As LC, Holm utilises a lap steel, various synth sounds and makes use of public domain samples sourced from the Library of Congress Citizen DJ project and the Prelinger Archives. At times, there is a pop element to the compositions, but the mood overall is a dusty and dusky blend of trip hop, at times skirting experimental abstraction. I’m thankful that this gem of Tassie’s electronic underground found me and I can hopefully share it around a little further.
