An all-timer from Karen Dalton finally back in circulation!
Not worth rehashing the myths of Dalton’s life and her “rediscovery” all those years later (the In My Own Time doco a few years ago did a pretty solid job of dispelling and complicating a lot of the mystery), but it’s pretty safe to say this one has entered the canon of Greenwich Village folk.
An album that toes the line between the trad and the new (at that time) in folk. A largely acoustic and pared back affair that foregrounds her completely singular and soulful voice, working through standards and soon to be standards from her contemporaries (including one of the best versions of Fred Neil’s A Little Bit of Rain).
