Given Jeff Parker’s long resume (Tortoise, Isotope 217, Chicago Underground Quartet, hell even Smog), it’s no surprise that while is latest solo record is ostensibly a collection of jazz studies for the guitar and that it’s also something more expansive than what that sounds. Incorporating shimmering drones and off-kilter loops below lyrical guitar lines, this LP toes the line between jazz, minimalism, and generative music in a way that is both approachable and listenable.
