Gastr del Sol - We Have Dozens of Titles 3LP

Drag City dredges the archives to bring another collection of tracks and live cuts from one of the most enigmatic duos of the 90s.

Comprising of Jim O’Rourke and David Grubbs, it feels like the most concise (and probably annoying) way to describe Gastr Del Sol’s output is in a series of ‘posts,’ and I’m not talking about social media. That is, this was a group that existed within the realm of Chicago post-rock, the group could be seen to be delving into post-hardcore, post-avant garde composition, hell even post-American Primitive. Ok I made a bunch of these up, but what I’m trying to say is that the exciting thing about GDS was their ability to draw upon a broad scope of 20th Century music without resting in tradition or recreation.

This particular set spans their career as a group, drawing a path through the acoustic guitar driven work through to the more abstract electronics.
