Fig is Tim Burnett, Tim Jennings, Simon Jackman, Jack Chapman, Ben Baltins, and Paddy Morgan. The band originally began as a solo writing project of Burnett, until momentum pulled the group together to record a collection of synth-centered slow-glam ballads.
In 2021, Fig returned to write their anticipated second record. They returned to Golden Retriever Studios in Marrickville, Sydney, to record with Simon Berckleman (Courtney Barnett, and Jack Ladder), with production assistance from Casey Wescott (Fleet Foxes). The sessions included collaborations with Caitlin Harnett & the Pony Boys, and 80s Australian music legend Scribble (Johanna Pigott) - who both feature on the new album. The album was mastered by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound.
With the new album, the band have delved deeper into 80s pop and rock, with an album that recalls the beautiful dream-pop heights of Beach House, the quirky electronica of Mark Mothersbaugh, and the pulsing drive of Springsteen’s ‘Born in the USA’.
