Some twelve years on from their last LP and a stack of excursions between (most notably Ellis as Nick Cave’s right hand man, Turner’s Mess Esque project, and White still playing on half the records under the sun including the ever-great Xylouris White), the Three reconvenes for another album of ragged, conversational, and melancholy compositions.

There’s an ease and comfort to the record that makes it feel like for the trio, playing together feels as natural as breathing. But that’s not to say they’ve just pissed out another D3 record to satiate the fans. The loops of the last LP fade further into the rearview of the mix and Ellis seems to play just as much piano as violin here. These tracks feel like slower burners, droning and rolling through and swelling across the record with nooks and cracks that beckon further exploration.
