Looking For A Sphere from Dippers (the band formerly known as Thigh Master) indicates a new era for the group. New name means new sounds, textures and themes. Similar to the past, but moving forward. Burgeoning through geometric visions, the 4 tracks on this new EP are impelled by hypnagogic hallucinations.

Looking for a Sphere was produced, engineered and mixed by songwriter Matthew Ford and long term collaborator Innez Tulloch, and sees Dippers expand the sonic dimensions of their practice. Those familiar with previous releases will not be disappointed, the guitar-pop gems still ring true with Mazing and the more down tempo Drift Space. These tracks embrace immediate hooks, fuzzy guitar solos and vocal harmonies, with additional instrumentation of a 12 string acoustic guitar and digital and analog synthesisers. A little mezzo forte, a little mezzo piano. Ford's lyricism and vocal delivery takes a step up also, with reflections on experiences of neurodivergence tinged with sci-fi imagery. Brain’s on spring break throughout the cosmos.

The new EP also features experimentation from the group, with a two part exploration named Looking for a Sphere Part I & Part II. Improvised instrumentations coupled with music concretè, pondering themes of existence, nature, earth and intergalactic travel. The songs from this EP were recorded during sessions for an upcoming long-player through Goner Records & Tenth Court, which you can expect an announcement for very soon. - Tenth Court
