Dick Diver - New Start Again LP

You take a day/week/fortnight/month/year/financial yeah - what about a decade?Dick Diver’s debut album turns 10 this year - where’s the huge gatefold double LP expanded deluxe version at!? But to wax earnest for a little while, this is an all timer for me.

I feel like I cottoned on to Dick Diver after seeing Boomgates play an instore at the old Repressed shopfront up the road in 2010 and later making the connection that Steph Hughes played in both bands. New Start Again seemed to bridge my obsession with US ‘alt-country’ and folk with something more localised. An album that for me served as a manifesto of sorts on how to do bands (shared songwriting, humour, no rock dog egos, slacker but not too slack) and that I’ve spent the last decade unashamedly ripping off.
