Death - The Sound Of Perseverance 2LP

I swear ‘The Sound Of Perseverance’ (1998) didn’t even get a mention in the guidance I was receiving when first dipping my toes into the rancid waters of death metal as a teen in the late 2000s. I wouldn’t say the tables have turned but, at least in our store, there’s as much demand for Death’s significantly more technical swansong as there is for ‘Scream Bloody Gore’ (1987). If I had come across this album as a teen it would not have been what I was looking for. But now as someone with numerous Rush and Genesis records in my collection, not to mention late-80s Iron Maiden, I bloody love it! — Nic
