The dB’s - I Thought You Wanted To Know CD

CD copy. I’d known of the dBs through their association with Television’s Richard Lloyd and their handful of killer singles on Ork Records, but this is my first extensive listen to Chris Stamey & co.

Collecting early singles, demos, and live recordings, this is power pop full of ear worm hooks, shimmering guitars, and crystalline vocal harmonies, but still with a bit of roughage around the edges. The kind of music and songwriting that in my mind fills the missing link between Big Star and contemporary favourites like Chronophage and Home Blitz.
