erry Ork has gotta have one of the best ears in the history of rock/punk record production. Sure, he benefitted from being in proximity the eye-wateringly incredible downtown NYC scene of the late-1970s but I don’t think I’ve ever heard a dud band or release on Ork Records (The Feelies, Television, The Voidoids, The DBs, Lester Bangs, Prix, etc etc etc). Even when extra material is unearthed, it’s still killer!

Out of the Ork stable, The Revelons seem to be one of the most overlooked groups, with this Hozac reissue bringing together their sole 7” and a bunch of other cuts that feature Television bass player Fred Smith in band and production roles. Two sides of rocking tracks that place frontman Gregory Lee Pickard at the fore, swinging from DIY Spectorisms, to Petty & The Heartbreaker-esque stomp, power pop choruses, and Televisionish minimalism (without the maximal guitar solos).

Insane that stuff this good is still being unearthed from the NY Downtown!
