On first listen of this album, something seemed immediately familiar. If I was blind listening and hadn’t googled where Chronophage were from (Austin, TX), I could have sworn I’d seen them in the front bar of the Bald Faced Stag a few years back, possibly sharing a bill with Aloha Units, Destiny 3000, or The Shifters. It wasn’t until days later, still kicking myself with that “where have I heard something like this before…” feeling that I realised that it reminded me most of Mordecai’s ‘College Rock’ and ‘Neil’s Generator.’ What excites me most about Chronophage is their exploratory approach to rock/punk/guitar music that winks at the past without ever getting bogged down in nostalgia. - Mitch
