C.I.A. Debutante - Down, Willow LP

CIA Debutante (the duo of everyone’s favourite Oz expat in France, Nathan Roche alongside French electronic musician Paul Bonnet) returns to Siltbreeze for their 4th LP!

Continuing the tech-dystopia Ballardian and Burroughsian threads of past releases, ‘Down, Willow’ sees the present day crumble back into the past while rolling into an ever-bleak future. Hypnotic and disorienting synth loops underpin Nathan’s mostly spoken vocals that weave through self-reflective meditations on recording mediums, to swords and castles, to office-scapes and email databases. 

A step further afield from the post-Shadow Ring murkiness of previous releases into something closer to Suicide, early Cabaret Voltaire, Severed Heads, or SPK. Maybe my favourite CIA Debutante release so far?!
