Wowie, what a band! ‘Fighting’ (1975) released one year before their commercial breakthrough ‘Jailbreak’, sets the stage for the most known and loved mode of Thin Lizzy. In that I mean no disrespect to their original (non-dualling) guitarist, Eric Bell. He’s a mad dog too, just different.
While guitarists Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson played on ‘Nightlife’ (1974), this is where they got their “thang” happening… those iconic guitarmonies (a portmanteau for guitar harmonies). The whole of side one is killer, if I had to choose highlights they’d be ‘For Those Who Love To Live’ and ‘Wild One’. And then side two is kind of forgettable. - Nic
