Body Melt - Body Melt 7" EP

Sometimes you hear a record and just know they’re destined for greatness. Body Melt are from Newcastle and the personnel involved are Squelch, French, Luke W and Edo. This combination of names, even if I wasn’t able to deduct with near certainty that band features members of Exit Mould and Obat Batuk, looks so perfect.

I can’t really explain why, but there’s a balance in those names that along with the skilled-but-silly cover art I correctly identified I was in for a heart warming and ear rattling slab of non-optimised for market consumption, no-frills, slice of friends mucking about with stupid punk-y grindcore!!!!

No real name comparisons here from me, basically it delivers the same thrilling, strangely groovy (baby yeah!) fun the greats of grind delivered when the genre was in its infancy, but with a different set of social circumstances, personalities and in-jokes.

Some choice quotes from the experts at Radical Blarghst: “Warsore from Wish dot com”, “vicious barrage of old school grindcore ferocity delivered with a smile :)”. Along with Angie’s new one, my favourite 7” experience of 2025 so far! - Nic
