Blueprints - Artichoke 7"

Blueprints are back at it again, ready to bend minds and open hearts even further on their jump from cassette to 7” with two bizarro world top 10 hits and one introspective piano number. While I sheepishly referenced Stereolab and Snapper in an attempt to get the “good taste” having consumers to take note, here I can’t be anything but frank and enthusiastic about their DIY embrace of disco beat driven universal pop music.

Imagine if Helen from The Garbage & The Flowers teamed up with the production team behind ‘Fever’ era Kylie Minogue, or if Yoko featured on ‘Ray Of Light’, or if Look Blue Go Purple and Stardust’s ‘The Music Sounds Better With You’ had a beautiful baby. Both ‘Artichoke’ and ‘Bibbulmun’ are screaming for the Paul Mac 12” remix treatment.

Blueprints make music for realising you’ve got to deal with a slight bit of discomfort to ultimately unlock feeling good more of the time. Apologies for sounding a bit wellness-core there, but I reckon Blueprints (unknowingly) combat the cynical “radical empathy” lifestyle music or whatever the industry plants are pushing these days. - Nic
