Blue Dolphin - Robert's Lafitte LP
Blue Dolphin - Robert's Lafitte LP
Cleta-Patra

A dip into the waters of the not too historically distant Texan underground! Blue Dolphin kicked around briefly in 2016, self-released a few of cassettes (collected on this LP) and then dissolved into other projects.
The obvious connection is that Blue Dolphin prefigured Chronophage (a favourite around these parts) and there’s a lot here that feel comfortingly familiar—a freewheeling attitude to playing that melds punk approach with tinges of Western guitar lines, a familiarly shambolic half spoken half sung vocal approach and an off-the-cuff/need to get it down on tape in the room approach to recording that captures the spirit/document of a short-lived group.
One for fans of Chronophage (duh), Tyvek, Mordecai, and local favourites Aloha Units.
