Guitarist, drummer and singer Anthony Talarico has been improvising at Club Weld since 2014, and is one of the studio’s founding musicians.
In that time he’s released a number of brilliant recordings, including the 2022 collaboration with Chris Stiles and Nicola Morton, ‘We Were Made For Loving You’.
The ‘Angela’ EP is Talarico’s first solo release, and first with producer Annais Paris. It’s another loose net of conversations, affirmations and sly pop references.
‘Angela’ is an improvised pop song, evoking a hazy, nostalgic feeling analogous to ‘Space Oddity’ and mid 70s Neil Young.
Pasko Schravemade’s jazzy, Steely Dan-ish keys help advance Talarico’s expressive, open string guitar explosions, and touching lyrics about talking to his mother.
‘Last Night’ returns to some of the heavier atmospheres explored on ‘We Were Made For Loving You’, and ‘Weeow Weeow’ is a carrier wave, fighting its way through static to amplitude.
