Could Alice do no wrong???
This 1972 recording captures Coltrane conducting an orchestra through a swathe of her own compositions and a Stravinsky arrangement; a precedent to the Pharoah Sanders meets LSO collab earlier this year in its avant-jazz meets classical combo, but so much more upfront and extravagant.
Beyond her conducting, Coltrane also contributes her own piano/harp/organ that is both so heavily in the pocket of the arrangements but also transcendent and out of body.
