蟬 - SEMI CD

They have been referred to as the Les Rallizes Dénudés of western Japan. The founding guitarist, Okazaki Yasuhiro, passed away from cancer earlier this year.

Formed in Fukuoka City in 1990. Centered around Yasuhiro Okazaki (guitar), Kazuhiko Kuriyama (bass), and Koji Mizutani (drums), the band began performing as a comprehensive rock group focused primarily on improvisation. In December 2000, they released their first CD, the four-disc set *Cicada*, a compilation of studio recordings from the 1990s, on OZ DISC. In January 2004, they released their second CD, *Maboroshi*, also on OZ DISC, which was recorded at “magick studio”—a rehearsal studio that Okazaki had converted from a corner of a multi-tenant building and which operated for only a short time. In 2011, they released their third CD, the double album *3*, on My Best! Records. Around the same time, the drummer changed from Koji Mizutani to Makoto Onuki. Since then, the band has continued to deepen their artistic expression by performing highly abstract, chaotic, and improvised live sets. –Deterra
