I'm far from a pop punk apologist and have really fallen for Tiikeri's catchy love letter to the first few waves of Punk Rock. This Finnish group contains a sentiment that's an overlooked legacy of Punk; adding some meaning and purpose to life by getting together with some friends and making silly songs. See The Kids (Belgium) - This Is Rock 'n' Roll for an example.
There's a ying/yang of catchy/classic and daggy/earnest here, like The Undertones meets Toy Dolls. It's remarkable how they've managed to avoid being 'retro record collector punk' doing this in 2023.- Nic
