Oscar Perry is a Melbourne painter and poet. I’m not sure how this recording came to be, how some of Melbourne’s most cherished “musos” (Jack Farley, Amy Hill, Al Montfort, Ben Mackie and more), or Hobbies Galore came into the fold, but glad they did. Oscar’s spoken word is seedy, silly, chic and balances the surreal and mundane. Paired with pulsating instrumentals these songs suggest Jim Carroll Band or a Richard Brautigan detective novel in a roundabout way. -Nic
