Underground Lovers 'Cold Feeling' LP White Vinyl RSD 2023
By late 1998, Underground Lovers had become a two piece. Members had come and gone, leaving founding duo Glenn Bennie and Vincent Giarrusso to review and revise their musical legacy and inclinations. Experimenting with an assortment of drum machines and synthesisers, the album Cold Feeling was born, and this cool electro/acoustic classic saw the light of day in early 1999. Produced at Birdland Studio with Lindsay Gravina and Mikey Alonso, the album was originally released on CD in 1999 through Bruce Milne’s Reliant Records.
Featuring performances from local Melbourne musicians including Merida Sussex (Paradise Motel), Graham Lee (Triffids) and David Chesworth (Essendon Airport), Cold Feeling is a mesh of electro, guitar pop, unlike anything else released in Australia at the time. The variety of sounds and influences are bound together by Underground Lovers’ recognisable motorik beats, synth pulses, chiming guitars and melodic nous.
