Ibiza heaves in and out like a panicked chest in a semi-aware tumult of the watery subconscious. The painful, ecstatic rush of vulnerability in the face of fear. Fiery opposition to anything that threatens their liberty. It’s no wonder that the ranting, crooning vocals recall the lunacy of Roky Erickson, there’s something coming out that couldn’t be kept in.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJoy Division was a catchy band with ‘nice’ songs. But we know that’s not the whole truth, especially if you’ve heard the live recordings that bare a menacing swagger and remind you that they were a fucking PUNK band. There’s a constant push and pull. Ibiza shares that DNA albeit with an added dose of The Cure’s intoxicating chorus-soaked leads that swirl through the aching, hidden parts of your nervous system.
