Vashti Bunyan - Just Another Diamond Day LP

An album of short, almost whispered folk songs. Singer-songwriter Vashti Bunyan’s debut album went relatively unnoticed outside of cult circles for over 30 years after its 1970 release. But luckily enough it got reissued so that we could let our freak folk flag fly!

While it has the hallmarks of something “folky” or “psychedelic,” Just Another Diamond Day seems set apart from a lot of other LPs that carry those genre-signifiers. A set of pastoral and (big “R”) Romantic songs that masterfully leads the listener through a technicolour imagining of the British country side.

One that you can still hear resonating through the work of contemporary artists like Maxine Funke and Julie Byrne, or that would appeal to fans of Nico, Nick Drake, John Cale, Karen Dalton, or Kath Bloom.
